Cruise Trek 2017 will sail from Los Angeles to San Francisco to
Mexico, plus to several quaint, charming ports in between. California
offers the potential for many optional tours including ~
Universal Studios, Paramount Studios, Hollywood Walk of Fame,
the Dolby Theatre (formally the Kodak Theatre), Griffith Park Observatory
(and the Leonard Nimoy Theatre), JPL, the Reagan Library,
The Getty Museums, Los Angeles Science Center (and the Space
Shuttle Endeavour), as well as Hearst Castle, the Golden Gate
Bridge and Park, Alcatraz, Napa Valley, Monterey Aquarium, and much
more.
So, extra days before and /or after the cruise would certainly be
rewarding.
Autumn is the absolutely perfect time of the year for cruising in
California. It will be calm, sunny, and gorgeous!
Here’s a quick description of our ports of call –
Los Angeles, California ~
Rodeo Drive, Spago, Mann’s Theatre, Sunset Boulevard.
There is so much to see and do in this entertainment capital; you’ll
have to be judicious with your time.
Shop and sightsee as you keep your eyes open for Hollywood’s
heroes and villains in their off-screen persona. L.A. has it all and then
some. See the homes of the stars, or visit the Griffith Observatory and do
some celestial stargazing.
Santa Barbara, California ~
Known as the “American Riviera,” with
Mediterranean-like weather year round, Santa Barbara lies between the
steep Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
This pedestrian-friendly city offers downtown beaches, a classic
California surfing culture, parks, great Spanish architecture, and Mission
Santa Barbara, a national historic landmark. The weekly Santa Barbara
Arts & Crafts Show has been a popular part of Stearns Wharf for
over 40 years. An abundance of seafood, local produce, and nearby
wineries also make Santa Barbara home to many spectacular
restaurants.
San Francisco, California ~
San Francisco offers you a wealth of possibilities with iconic landmarks
like Fisherman’s Wharf, Lombard Street, “The Crookedest
Street in the World”, and Alcatraz Island.
Your trip would not be complete without seeing the Golden Gate Bridge
or riding the cable cars on Powell Street.
Monterey, California ~
~ Do You Need Travel Insurance? ~
One option is Trip Insurance.
There are other choices, but we offer
Travel Guard for informational purposes.
Monterey is a gorgeous city on California’s rugged central
coast.
Its Cannery Row, one-time center of the sardine-packing industry,
was immortalized by novelist John Steinbeck. Today, Cannery Row is a
popular array of gift shops, seafood restaurants, and bars in converted
factories. Equally famous is Monterey Bay Aquarium, with hundreds of
thousands of marine animals and plants on display in underwater and
interactive exhibits.
From Cannery Row, you can walk or ride a rented surrey or Segway
along the scenic Recreation Trail to Fisherman’s Wharf. Along
the way, you’ll see harbor seals, sea otters and pelicans in
natural habitats on the dazzling waterfront of the Monterey Bay National
Marine Sanctuary.
Catalina Island (California) ~
It’s less than 20 miles off the coast from Los Angeles, but
Catalina Island is a world away from the city’s bright lights.
Protected by the most stringent measures anywhere, this sanctuary
is pure paradise. Boaters who make it out here find art deco architecture,
quaint boutiques, and an eclectic dining experience.
Ensenada, Mexico ~
The Riviera Pacifica with the Bar of the Seven Sins is located here.
It boasts a colorful past – it was once the playground of
California gentry and stars of the silver screen. Festive shops, a main
street and a former prison that now serves as an Aztec Museum are
just some of the highlights of this Baja Peninsula favorite.
